A lot has improved over the years and has been moved online. Unfortunately, from time to time, the systems can't cope with the demand and break down: it's a question of patience!

The system just leaves me alone most of the time

Most things are doable electronically. I do, however, have to print out my tax return every year and take it physically to the tax office while having a digital signature that should handle these submissions for me: the signature works for all things tax except for this one (they recently made taxation simpler: there is only one tax, and you don't have to pay it unless your annual income exceeds the total amount of contributions you paid to the Pension Fund during the year). Other than that, bureaucrats don't affect my life in any meaningful way.
I recently had to consult a lawyer (and pay him quite a bit of money) when a bank wanted to collect about 600 dollars in 20-year-old debt I didn't remember anything about (except that I paid it). The lawyer prepared two clever papers for me, I sent them to the court, and the debt was cancelled. The bank then sold the debt to a collection agency, and they wanted to collect 200 dollars by the same method (which was illegal, btw, because it's only supposed to be used for undisputed debts). I just changed the details in those papers and sent them to the court. Profit!
Having to use snail mail from time to time can be a dive into bureaucracy even though they are now delivering things a lot faster than they used to. You may have to wait in line with lots of pensioners whose requests always take a long time to resolve (plus that woman from some accounting department who wants to send a couple of dozen letters all at once) ▲ Collapse
