Extended hybrid phase for "The comic life of a transator" and "Ploughing mountainsides"Prizes should be awarded for voting

The biggest problem of the translation contests is that no one wants to take time to vote for these contests and get nothing if they are not one of the candidates.

If the result of a contest is:

The first place: Translator A
The second place: Translator B
The third place: Translator C

And if a voter's result is the same,

Then some KudoZ points can be awarded to the voter.

If the number of voters reached 100, then the awards are multiplied by 2.

If the number of voters reached 500, then the awards are multiplied by 4.

If ...multiplied by 8, 16, ...

No money spent. Easy and costless. But this can make the translation contests real.
Extended hybrid phase for "The comic life of a transator" and "Ploughing mountainsides"Bad idea to have two contests at the same time

The whole idea of Translation Contest where winners are selected by peers is an awful idea. It gets worse when there are two of these contest.
Obviously no one is willing to rate the translations and you have to extend the deadline, now this is the third deadline extension.
You are also not willing to spend a penny on the contest and ask some users to rate the translations. Therefore, this time we probably won't have any winners in some languages and obviously translators are not having FUN in a contest. They just spent a few minutes or even hours to translate the text and soon they will find they wasted their time.
Thank you Proz for wasting our time.

What members have said about ProZ.com translation contests

I always thought of the contests to be a good chance to learn from our mistakes.

This was my first translation contest ever and I didn't expect to win. Taking part in it was already a nice experience! For someone who's relatively new to the translation business, this is like a wish come true.

It was fun to translate [the contest source text] because it presents a certain idea or principle in many different ways (and words) and thereby reveals whether the translator has full command of his/her target language.
