I am not an interpreter, but I suppose that when the content is emotionally charged being resilient must be a necessary skill…

That's easy to say, but learning to interpret and learning to deal emotionally with stories of physical abuse, rape, terminal illness and suchlike are two different things. There are people who have stories that, I assure you, you wouldn't want to hear. Certainly not when they are told through tears, ferocious anger or screaming hatred.

I'm not a professional interpreter but I did work for a therapy group and I can tell you it was not always that simple. An invaluable experience but not easy.
