I watched Transliator, with Russell Crowe sitting at a desk in the middle of the Colosseum in Rome, smashing his keyboard because Proz was loading extremely slowly.
Good movie. | | | |
Some years ago, I watched, and liked, a Sidney Pollack film with Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn tittled «The Interpreter», which was the first film ever to be shot inside the U.N. Recently, I watched, not until the end as I disliked it, a Régis Roinsard film with Lambert Wilson tittled «Les Traducteurs».

"The Interpreter" and a very nice Italian movie with Monica Vitti as a freelance translator at home, with a fantastic Alberto Sordi "Io so che tu sai che io so"
Autumn Marathon, 1979, a comedy-drama, one of my favourite films | | | | Daryo Local time: 01:58 srbština -> angličtina + ...
I'm not aware of any such movie.
I did watch few movies involving interpreters or translators, but none of them was ABOUT interpreting or translating.
"The Interpreter" with Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, which is a good thriller with some situations that could actually happen.
"Lost in Translation" with Bill Murray, but I didn't like much that movie, thought it was lame.
I read that "The Translators" is a very good French movie, I will check it out.

Lost in translation. Fantastic! | | | | expressisverbis Portugalsko Local time: 01:58 angličtina -> portugalština + ...
A multilingual film that is especially interesting for translators/interpreters, in my view.
It is not about translation or interpreting, but is great for studying subtitling, dubbing, and cross-language nuances.
It includes spoken English, German, Hebrew, French, Arabic and Greek. A few references about Spain and Portugal too.

I downloaded the book, "Story of your life" by Ted Chiang, in PDF format. If interested, just drop me a message. | | | | | Yes,I’ve seen. | Nov 12, 2025 |
Yes, I’ve seen films addressing translation/interpreting. The Interpreter (2005) centers on a UN interpreter entangled in a political conspiracy, showcasing the ethical dilemmas of language mediation. The Silent House (2010) uses a deaf character’s struggle to communicate, highlighting the importance of sign language as a "translation" of silence into expression. Arrival (2016) explores linguistic relativity through alien language interpretation, emphasizing how translation shapes perception... The Silent House (2010) uses a deaf character’s struggle to communicate, highlighting the importance of sign language as a "translation" of silence into expression. Arrival (2016) explores linguistic relativity through alien language interpretation, emphasizing how translation shapes perception. These films reveal translation as both a technical skill and a bridge for empathy, often fraught with ambiguity. They underscore how interpreters navigate cultural, emotional, and political nuances, making language a tool for connection—or manipulation. ▲ Collapse | | | | | Stran v tématu: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Have you watched any films about translation/interpreting? | Anycount & Translation Office 3000 | Translation Office 3000
