I have been setting aside a certain amount every month for a while, which nowadays amounts to about six months to one-year expenses.

Since I don't have a pension insurance and my statutory pension entitlement is close to zero, I have been running my own diversified and low fee "pension fund" for more than 20 years with monthly contributions (as a percentage of my monthly income), using the dollar cost averaging and the interest compounding effect.
