Usually, no, but over the years I have contacted some translators to congratulate them on a job well done! I have also worked with other translators on very large projects and we are always in contact to discuss terminological questions. Besides that, I have an arrangement with a trusted colleague where we review each other's work and contribute with comments and suggestions, usually by e-mail and occasionally by telephone.

I even don't know who they are, and I think that's the way it should be.

For over 15 years I have been translating for a branch of the US Government and ALWAYS I got in touch with the translator/reviewer in order to exchange ideas, to clarify certain terms.
Very beneficial and eficient.

Dear Lieven,

Thank you for your comment!

Do you think if you know the identity of the translator, and their level of experience, that will help you to trust the translator and the quality of their work?

Knowing the strenghts and weaknesses of your partner, helps a lot. You can discuss with the partner parts that you don't fully understand or viceversa.
I see only benefits from collaborating; unfortunately, many of our colleagues see it as a "competition". It is not!

I think that knowing their level of experience or their identity can only be a distraction. The only thing that matters is the quality of the work delivered, experienced or not.
