I haven’t been looking for new clients for a while, usually they come to me and when they do, they have already done their homework or I have been recommended. Then, it’s up to me to make them happy so that they become regular customers...

A bit of all of the above
And of course, as Baran loves to remind me, at the dog park.

dubious rating

As I haven-t found the topic where I could pose this question, I hope it is OK to ask this here.
I have recently been approached by an agency that is neither here nor there, i.e. it really has some positive comments, but the recent ones are quite bad. They point out to non-payment practices.
What would you do in this situation? Would you still give them a chance?

There are lots of agencies that pay on time, and some that pay good rates. There's no point in taking a risk with agencies with poor payment practices or pay low rates.

Would you still give them a chance? Yes, why not.
But ONLY on the condition that they pay in advance. Before I start translating.
And by "payment", I mean a real payment. Not some fake cheque, or a real check that's going to bounce few weeks later, nor a Paypal payment that can be later taken back on some spurious pretext.
If they insist that their latest payment practices should inspire you unending confidence, don't waste any more time on them. Plenty of more rewarding ways of spending your time than working for nothing.
