Time Mar 1, 2012

Living in Western Australia (GMT +8), a start-up time of 1630 makes this unachievable. Perhaps an earlier start next time, or is this just to accommodate Pros in the US?

Time II Mar 1, 2012

Quite right, Andy. I won't be able to attend either because of the scheduled times. I realise it's hard to please everybody, but I agree that an earlier start should be feasible. Perhaps we on this side of the globe will have better luck next time!

Extremely Different Time Zone Mar 1, 2012

Yes, like my fellow translators above, I live in a country that is seven hours ahead of the GMT.
This extreme time difference makes me unable to participate in the powwow.
Maybe next time there would be a kind of regional powwow to overcome this issue.

Varied times? Mar 1, 2012

It seems that many ProZ events - or at least many of those I attend - start at about the same time. While I am only at GMT+1, it happens that mid-late afternoon is not a time when I generally work, and running into the early evening is even worse (I don't have children, but I can imagine that family dinnertime must inevitably clash with such arrangements for my fellow translators who do have families).

Perhaps it would be possible for one event in two to be at a completely different time? Actually, "Regarding ProZ virtual events and training, what starting time would be ideal for you?" is a good question for a poll, so I am going to go and ask it!

There will be other events this year and at different times Mar 1, 2012

Hello all,

I am really sorry that the time set for this event is not convenient for you. However, please have in mind that there will be other events this year and at different times to give everybody the chance to attend.

Also, I will be posting a summary of each discussion after the event in the Certified PRO Network forum so that no one misses a thing about it:

What is the format? Mar 1, 2012

I see "Virtual Powwow" listed as the format of all sessions, what does it mean in practical terms?
Is it going to be a chatroom/instant messaging type of setup, where participants type text, or an audio/video conference, or something else?
Katalin

Formats available are chat and video Mar 1, 2012

Hello Katalin,

This event will take place via chat (a chatroom will be available for each session) and video (this last one being optional, of course).

To access the chatroom for each session, visit the session page when it starts and the interface will load in the same page allowing you to "Enter" the chatroom.

See you all in a bit!

Lucia

ProZ.com seeks virtual event organizers...perhaps a CPN event for attendees in Australia/Asia Mar 1, 2012

As Lu pointed out ProZ.com is looking to host more events, including those that are in GMT + 3 or more.

ProZ.com is expanding the virtual events platform, which will now allow ProZ.com members to coordinate their own virtual events!
ProZ.com will provide all the technology and training needed to plan, organize and execute the event. Virtual conference organizers will handle decisions on theme, date/time and content for the virtual event.
