Hello I am a part time translator and I have never used a CAT tool before. I'm planning on becoming a ProZ member, in order to apply for more translation jobs. I noticed many jobs require SDL Trados. I don't think learning to use the software is a big deal, my main problem is affording the software, so I though maybe having the Starter edition could help me. What I'm looking for is to accept and apply for jobs that require SDL TRados 2011. Would the starter edition do? ... I don't really care for the functionality, I'm used to translating without any software and I'm fast enough without it, I just want to be able to get some work. I would try it. I've worked with the Starter Edition for a year before updating to the full version. You can use the basic functions that you need for translating, such as opening single files and projects, using or creating a translation memory and delivering the file or project. There are a lot of additional functions that you probably won't need at first, like creating a project, opening multiple TMs at the same time or working with very large TMs. I'd also encoura... It takes some energy and perserverance, but I have found many new clients here. It's worth the investment, even for someone like me who is not keen on paying for website access.
