Chance would be a fine thing. I've had one weekend off since the lockdown began. Things are slowing down a bit this week though, which is nice.

My workload has decreased by about 50%, and I believe this is true for many other Spanish to English translators. Luckily, my Spanish teaching has increased as people are stuck at home with nothing to do. Very pleased I have more than one string to my bow.
Yes, it is true | May 26, 2020 |
In comparison to last year, I invoiced 70% less in March, about the same in April and unless things change dramatically these last days of the month (????) I will invoice 50% less in May. I’m not particularly worried as ups and downs are an integral part of a translator's life…

Things slowed down drastically in early April and only started to pick up again last week. Hopefully things wil be back to normal soon.

I thought this month was slow, but then I looked up my income record from last year and it seems like last May wasn't really THAT lucrative. I find that there's little point in thinking about things in terms of months.

My (end) clients are museums, tourist boards, art galleries, artists, musicians, record labels, event organisers, so there are precious few translations to be done. One of the few end clients that aren't art-related is an airport so ditto.
Jobs disappeared between March and early May. Last week to this day it seems that things are starting to get better, I hope everything goes back to normal.

February and end of April were hard, the month of May, I started to win some customers. I believe we will overcome that.
Joshua Parker Mexiko Local time: 18:27 Člen (2016) španělština -> angličtina + ... Partly true? | May 26, 2020 |
How can this be partly true? Either you have fewer jobs or you don't!

It might not make sense in the senselessness sense, Joshua, but it does make sense in the centslessness sense, in that they are really asking whether people make fewer cents and the profession is becoming both centsless and/or senseless. Does the centslessness make sense, or is it senseless to ask whether people are making sense or making cents? Shure been a long day ...
Leigh Ann Benlian Francie Local time: 03:27 Člen (2019) francouzština -> angličtina + ... May was horrible | May 26, 2020 |
I didn't feel the hit in March or April, it seemed like alot of the jobs I did were actually wrapping things up that had begun pre-confinement. I had ALOT of work those two months, and it hit a brick wall this month. I am not going to worry about it for May, but I hope June gets back to some kind of normal...

But one thing is sure, Trimps selfish and egoistic politics were not helping very much before the virus came. Things have been quieter, but are now slowly picking up...
