What do you think about the idea of creating a website where clients (not translators) of translation agencies could go and leave ratings/comments about the quality of service and work they received? | | | Word_Wise Local time: 13:09 angličtina -> rumunština + ... | Question of credibility | Jun 19, 2009 |
We may rely on Proz's BB because to some extent we are able to verify who stands behind an entry (period of membership, Kudoz, Browniz, etc...) how could we rely on comments made by some anonymous possibly-real-clients? Can you imagine this war on fake positive and negative comments? I don't see how it could work One more thing - how would it benefit translators? After all end clients and translators are ... After all end clients and translators are interested in different qualities of translation agencies. Clients need punctuality and quality of delivered translation. Translators are themselves in control of these two factors - the big issue is payment. I do not think this would be possible on ProZ because clients would also have to be allowed to make negative comments/feedback. Otherwise, the system would reward good companies, but would be useless for weeding out companies who provide poor translations (and presumably pay less). Clients would be aware of what they are getting for their money and can make an informed decision. This would give companies doing things the right way a fighting chance and help to remove KTAs and "entrepreneurs" wit... The posting of negative comments would be contrary to the financial (and possible legal) concerns of this site. Alla Sion wrote: Why not on PROZ? ▲ Collapse | |

on Proz, many translators give a rating of 5 to the agencies they work for. Now of course many of them are really good, pay on time, give exellent support and everything... but I dount they are worth a 5 every time ! But maybe there should be some guideline about giving out 5s, (speed of payment, tariffs, etc because I suspect that there must be some more 4s and 3s (good & reasonable agencies) as opposed to Excellent) Obtaining an evaluation from translation end-users ... It's because of the way the numbers are defined: "likelihood of working again," just that. And that depends on a lot of things--like how big your client base is. Can you afford NOT to work for someone who is basically okay, even if you have some complaints about them? To me, the only numbers that make sense are: 1 - these are rotten bastards and I wouldn't work with them again for anything 4 - yes, I will work with them again, but there are some issues I am concerned about (such as late payment or low rates) 5 - yes, I am willing to (would be happy to) work with them again If I had a huge client base, and all the clients paid fantastic rates, then I might use all the numbers, as Ed suggests. If wishes were horses....
