Dear colleagues,

here I am again with yet another challenging translation. It appears within the very same speech delivered by the Czech Prime Minister at the Chamber of Deputies. What I struggle with is the phrase "odborně podloženého rozpočtu". While "realistic budget" constitutes a straightforward translation for the first part of the expression (if tackled separately) I am unsure how to combine it with the rest and how to translate the rest so that it represents a natural English expression. I would therefore welcome your opinion.

The phrase is as follows: "Dále to byla příprava realistického a odborně podloženého rozpočtu na rok 2010." (Prime Minister states the goals of his government for the last election period).

I have been thinking about "a realistic budget based on expert opinion" however, it sounds rather awkward. I am not an expert on economics and I would therefore welcome opinion of those of you who are more knowledgeable in this sphere.
