Stuart,

I would like to close this discussion and I actually like your suggestion the best. Would you like to provide it as an answer and then I can choose it? Or would "certificate number" be equivalent to either "filing number" or "record number", the other two answers provided? If so, I could choose one of them.

I don't think it's a filing number as that would be more specific in parish records (see http://www.google.cz/imgres?imgurl=http://www.scanzen.cz/fil... Perhaps it's simply the certificate number - if you go back far enough you'll find the certificates use "N. E." - "numerus exhibiti - číslo exhibitní according to http://www.veselicko.eu/inpage/1849-svatebni-smlouva/

Thanks, Hannah, for your comments. The baptism was performed 3 days after the birth. Right after the čis. exh. is the stamp, so maybe it is covering something that was written there. Or maybe the cancel over the stamp has the filing number? I have a pdf and the stamp and cancel are so dark nothing there is legible. But the cert. clearly shows the baby was baptized.

Stephen, you write that there is no legible number after it. So you are saying that something is written there, that it is not blank? In the rest of the certificate, do you have the' in volume year page record No. ' etc.
from the registry book cited?
