Cultural Center Vysvětlení: Well, there are no "Community Centres" in Moscow and/or Russia in the Western sense. Their buildings for similar purposes are called "Cultural Houses" (small) or "Cultural Centers" (medium) or "Cultural Palaces" (large). in Russian: Dom kultury / Centyer kultury / Dvorec kultury e.g. Moscow Cultural Center DOM -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2007-02-01 16:47:24 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- or: Culture Center Still, there are smaller Communal Houses/Blocks (Obshestvennoye zhdaniye in Russian), e.g. in apartment building complexes. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2007-02-01 17:05:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Since "cultural" was mainly a communist misnomer for this type of buildings, they are now often called "communal", i.e. společenský in Czech. Thus: "Dom kultury" > "Společenský dům" > "Cultural Center" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 days (2007-02-06 10:22:41 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- I'm glad it was helpful, Charles. |
