I am writing to you in order to apply for the translator job post.
I was born in London and I am fully bilingual with British and Spanish parents. I have lived in both countries extensively and studied in both educational systems, thus providing me a co...mplete education in both languages as a native. I have lived in Castile for 13 years, Burgos to be exact, where I also graduated in Business and worked as an accountant and teacher. The last two years I have been living right at the border of Burgos. I am currently also an English examiner and invigilator for Cambridge University in Spain, which, of course, their strongest requirement resides in an excellent command of English grammar and knowledge. I specialise in business, marketing, finance, legal and education translations, but as you can see in my CV, I have also translated a lot of Construction, Engineering, IT, Technical, and Tourism related texts as well as WebPages. In my position as Owner/Teacher/Translator in Active English! for 6 years, I translated various documents from English to Spanish and vice versa for important companies in the catering industry, advertising companies, tourism agencies and commercial businesses. This in addition to my Business degree studied in Spain, specialising in Marketing, which included Civil law, Business law, and Labour law, and my Master in Business has given me wide experience in law, business, marketing, economy, travel and tourism and general English translations. I have also been a teacher for the last 8 years, teaching all levels of English, from children to company managing directors. This has provided me with an in-depth understanding of the English and Spanish languages in all its aspects. As stated above, I also prepare students for English Cambridge University exams and at the present, I am holding a post as an examiner with Cambridge University. A few important and some worldwide known companies I have worked with include IBM, SEAT, Toyota, TEKA, BH, Bodegas Marqués de Riscal, Bodegas Muga, Viña Tondonia, Saski Baskonia, Caja Vital Kutxa, Fitur, the University of La Rioja, the University of the Basque Country, the Basque Government, among others.
My rate is 0.06 EUR per word and I have a daily output of 3,000-4,000 words, depending on the type of source. I would also like to add that I have a very flexible timetable and I am available to work on weekends if necessary.
