Zdrojový text - angličtina For many people, especially survivors of rape, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse, it is common for these symptoms and reactions to continue for longer than 6 weeks. At this stage the symptoms and reactions usually interfere in a person’s life, making it difficult for him or her to move on and rebuild life after the event. It’s also common for the person to have vivid images of the traumatic event, making him or her feel as though the event is being relived and happening all over again with all the same sights, sounds and smells.
These vivid images are known as flashbacks and are real and active memories of a past traumatic event. These flashbacks can arrive at any time, be out of a person’s control and once they arrive are difficult to get rid of. They can also trigger some of the same emotional, physical and behavioural reactions that the person had when the original traumatic event happened, so a person can re-experience many of the symptoms described above. They can therefore be very powerful and frightening experiences creating panic, a sense of being out of control and confusion.

इन स्पष्ट दृश्यों को अतीतावलोकन कहते हैं एवं यह उस बीती हुई अभिघातज शोकमय घटना के सत्य और सक्रिय यादें हैं| यह अतीतावलोकन किसी भी समय आ सकते हैं, व्यक्ति का इन पर कोई नियंत्रण नहीं होता और एक बार आने के बाद इनसे छूटकारा पाना बहुत कठिन होता है| कई बार ये यादें, वही भावनात्मक, शारीरिक और व्यवहारिक प्रतिक्रियाएं पुनःउत्पन्न कर सकतीं है जो उस व्यक्ति ने मूल घटना के समय अनुभव किये थे, इसी लिये वह व्यक्ति ऊपर बताये गये कई प्रतिक्रियाओं का अनुभव कर सकता है| यह बहुत ही शक्तिशाली और डरा देने वाला अनुभव हो सकता है, जिसके कारण भय, अनियंत्रित होने की भावना और संभ्रम उत्पन्न हो सकते हैं|

There are some typical reactions that most people experience after a trauma which can normally be expected to last for 4 – 6 weeks after the event. These can include many of the following effects.
