JICS study bursaries are available to students of all disciplines who have been accepted for a full-time postgraduate training course in conference interpreting offered by a recognised university or university-level institution. If successfully completed, this will lead to a qualification certifying that you are able to work as a professional conference interpreter in both consecutive and simultaneous modes. be maximum 45 years of age be a national of the 25 EU Member States or of one of the candidate countries to the EU (Bulgaria Romania and Turkey); be in possession of a university degree or equivalent qualification or be in the final year of a course leading to a university degree or equivalent qualification have the following language combinations: 1. Excellent command of your active language (=one of the languages mentioned in this paragraph), a very good knowledge of at least one EU language (Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish) and one or more languages of the new Member States or Candidate countries (Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Slovak, Slovene, Romanian, Turkish); 2. Excellent command of two languages (to mother tongue level) of which one is an EU language and the other a candidate country language (as listed in §1 above), or 3. Excellent command of your mother tongue and a perfect understanding of at least two of the current EU languages (as listed in §1 above). The amount of the bursary to be granted is EUR 2.200 for those studying in a new Member State, and EUR 1.500 for students from candidate countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey). Plus EUR 500 for those changing their country of residence in order to attend the course.
