A cultural bridge = local language Aug 23, 2010

This is a very good policy for foreign students living in a country. My experience when I was studying in Japan in year 1972 is similar. This is a very good policy for foreign students living in a country. My experience when I was studying in Japan in year 1972 is similar. The first week I went there, I was totally uneasy to communicate with local people although their friendships were plenty. After one year, I freely enjoy may daily life and started to admire beauty of a foreign language. For Hindi, it is the language with majority of speakers in India. For a student studying in this country, it is a must to understand the language, otherwise, flavor of studying abroad will be totally diminished. In particular, India is the country with diversified cultural heritage, history, land and people, and it worths learning. One of my friend's sons is a graduate in computer from an Indian university. He can speak Indian English but seldom understand Indian ethnic languages (in total about 400 languages are used). I live in Southeast Asia under Indo-Chinese cultural influence. Our classic language root of Pali and Sanskrit make studying Hindi very funny: many common words are also vocabularies in our countries. Hinduism, the majority religion of Inda, is also the cultural heritage of our beliefs, and its technical glossary is seen even in Buddhism: our popular language.
