Czech term

sběrný tábor

Hannah Geiger (X) (asker) Jul 22, 2011:
Hannah Geiger (X) (asker) Jul 22, 2011:

displaced persons camp (DP) camp

A displaced persons camp or DP camp is a temporary facility for displaced persons coerced into forced migration. The term is mainly used for camps established after World War II in West Germany and in Austria, as well as in the United Kingdom, primarily for refugees from Eastern Europe – the majority of them being Jews – and for the former inmates of the Nazi German concentration camps. Even two years after the end of World War II in Europe, some 850,000 people still lived in DP camps across Western Europe, among them Armenians, Poles, Latvians, Lithuanians, Estonians, Yugoslavs, Greeks, Ukrainians and Czechoslovaks.

děkuji za vysvětlení kontextu ... :) .... v tom případě odvolávám návrh troop concentration camp :))
Example sentence:

Troop concentration camps were set up in Great Britain .....

Note from asker:
Peer comment(s):

disagree Gerald Turner : Far too specific. "Internment camp" is the appropriate translation

This question was closed long ago. Maybe you can post your suggestion to the discussion. And yes, I'm aware it is specific, I was under an impression that asker means a camp for soldiers waiting to go home after war. She provided more info later on.
