: I like 'make an effort/more of an effort'. I would use 'team' normally as we talk about a manager and his 'team'

Very true. I suggested crew also, in case they are blue collar workers, his team could be a cleaning crew or plumbers (considering the low register). Thank you for all your help - teju :)
