I'm translating an affidavit from Spanish into English and I'm having trouble figuring out this sentence:
EXPEDÍ COPIA AUTORIZADA EN UNA HOJA DE PAPEL DE USO OFICIAL ***A LA QUE FIJE E INUTILICE*** UN SELLO DEL TIMBRE POR VALOR DE CINCO PESOS.
There's a fiscal stamp on the margin of the document with a seal from the notary office on top of it, and I believe "INUTILICE" refers to that notary seal that sort of covers the fiscal stamp.
My try:
I ISSUED A NOTARY COPY ON A SHEET OF PAPER FOR OFFICIAL USE ***WHICH IS FIXED AND RENDERED VOID*** BY A FISCAL STAMP WORTH FIVE CUBAN PESOS.
My delivery is tomorrow Monday at 8 AM Argentine time.

Not quite. The (woman) notary fastens the stamp to the paper /folio and then cancels e.g. by crossing out the stamp with a pen stroke. Compare checking in at an airport flight desk where a ground attendant will often check a passenger's air ticket against passport or ID card and then 'cancel' the ticket - paradoxically validating the ID check - by crossing out part of the paper ticket.

| Hi Adrian! Thanks for your answer. Should the final version be "TO WHICH SHE AFFIXES AND CANCELS A FISCAL STAMP"? I believe the action "affix" and "cancel" are both performed by the stamp, so I'm not 100% sure if "she" would be correct. |
