The book is therefore dated in both the second quarter of the 13th century and the fourth decade of the 14th century. Its orthographic features connect it to the Zeta and Hum region, with various copyists accounting for differences.

With its orthographic and calligraphic characteristics, the Gospel links the important origins of old literacy of Zeta and Hum - the Glagolitic tradition from Macedonia with Cyrillic orthography of Raska, which extended across Zahumlje to Bosnia, with solid traces of ethnic language in it.
