I've never found a convincing one-word equivalent ("pesticides" covers many, but obviously not all, such preparations) but would be interested to hear from anyone who has.

: Only if the word is used in the less frequent sense of "herbal medicines". The first definition of "fitofarmaci" in the monolingual Zingarelli, for instance, is chemicals for treating crops, etc.

Unwieldy, I admit - but this seems to be the best hold all term - if you don't like this, then you either have to use the much vaguer agrochemicals or be more specific as to what you are trying to kill - herbicides/pesticides/fungicides, etc.
