German term

Arztfachhelfer

German to English Medical Human Resources
In a short article on the KTQ quality management procedures it is stated that the KTQ working parties are made up of diverse professionlas including doctors, professionals from rehabilitation centres and "artztfachelferinnen". Can somone give me the right word for this in Egnlish? All suggestions appreciated.

Thank you in advance

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I think physician assistant is the right translation of Artzfachhelfer. Here is a defintion: A physician assistant (P.A.) is a licensed health professional who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician A medical assitant is not one who works with a doctor as a physician assistant and Artztfachhelfer does. this definition set me on the right path. Many thanks."

Medical Assistant

Arztfachhelfer=Arzthelfer. Depending on the responsibilities, Physician Assistant might work, too.

paramedic

this is widely used term for persons who are vocationally trained to assist doctors
Peer comment(s):

neutral Marcus_UKDE : According to LEO, paramedic means "Notarzt", which has a different meaning than the "Arztfachhelfer" here. http://dict.leo.org/ende?lp=ende&lang=de&searchLoc=0&cmpType...
