"Shore D hardness 61"

This are supposed to be the measurement of hardness (dureza) of a given plastic material (in this case, polypropylene copolymer). I have no idea of what "Shore D" means in this context and would be grateful for any help.

Hardness is measured by diferent means_ability to withstand penetration, scraching, cutting, or abrasion_and is defined as the resistance to plastic deformation. There are a number of tests to compare hardness of materials. There is no absolute scale of hardness.

The Shore Scleroscope is an instrument in wich a poited hammer is allowed to fall upon a metal or plastic specimen. The height of rebound for a fall of a given height is used as a measure of harfness
