Ultrasound examination of the heart, usually via echocardiography, is considered the gold standard for evaluating for pericardial effusion, with or without tamponade. Specific findings include right ventricular diastolic collapse, right atrial collapse, a dilated inferior vena cava, and inspiratory valvular changes

Daryo Oct 6, 2023:
@ Jack Heaton Can you confirm that this patient has undergone a cardiac surgery?

Otherwise POD could be some kind of physical examination.

In fact, it can not be that as "UZV srca = UltraZVuk srca = cardiac ultrasound / echocardiography" is the physical examination showing this "perikardijalni izljev do 15 mm".

So "POD" is more likely to mean WHEN this physical examination was done s.t. along the lines of "post operative care/monitoring"??

Thanks. It's, actually, very clear: "1. i 2. POD" means "On the 1st and 2nd POD (postoperative day)..."

neutral liz askew : how does this related to pericardial effusion?

disagree Daryo : There might well be a delirium somewhere in this story, but it make no sense for this term - "millimeters of blood effusion" are not the kind of units anyone would use to evaluate someone's mental state.

Croatian term (edited): POD (Post Operativna Dijagnostika)

Post-operative diagnosis

POD Post Operativna Dijagnostika = examinations conducted after the surgery.

one of them being "UZV srca = UltraZVuk srca = cardiac ultrasound / echocardiography" showing this "perikardijalni izljev do 15 mm".

All bit of the puzzle used and all fit together.

but En abbreviations are used often in medical texts!
