Yes. The software developer has been doing good job since Wordfast was only a tiny plug-in to MS Words nearly two decades before.
I learned of it so much through its trial version/free version.

Definitely! I remember when Trados workbench was the best option as essentially a set of macros for Word, like you said, and it's amazing how much more advanced tools are these days!
