My name is Paula Lis, and I am a Spanish freelance translator and proofreader based in Madrid, Spain. My language pairs are English>Spanish>English (Spain) and English>Galician>English.
Upon graduating in 2005 (Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Vigo, Spain) I moved to Dublin, Ireland, where I spent 3 years working mostly in customer-oriented positions, such as my job as an Account Manager at PayPal.
The experience of living abroad helped me build up my confidence and improve my English language skills as well as was useful to get to know and understand a different culture, since I certainly believe that, as translators, it is our job not only to be bilingual and master the language but also to be bicultural.
So far I've worked as a freelance translator for several companies, publishing houses and institutions, and translated different kinds of texts: from movies to children's books, textbooks, user guides, websites, corporative documents and legal documents. I've also worked as an in-house translator at the University of Vigo (Vice-Chancellor's office) and Ursaria Business Centre (Vigo, Spain).
