Source text - English Dr. G. Venkata Raju obtained Master's degree in Marine Sciences Marine Biology and did his Doctorate in Marine Living Resources from the Andhra University.
He joined the State Fisheries Department in 1983 as Fisheries Extension Officer and is working as Assistant Director of Fisheries.
He has rich experience in fisheries development at the grass roots and policy levels. He was involved in community based programmes sponsored by FAO and DFID for sustainable utilization of fisheries resources. He worked in the projects funded by the FAO, BOBP, DFID, UNDP etc for the implementation of fresh water and brackish water aquaculture projects.
In collaboration with Marine Resource Assessment Group (MRAG, UK) under DFID funded project, he was instrumental in implementation of capacity building programmes of different stock assessment software tools.
Under GOI-UNDP sea turtle conservation project, he visited Malaysia and Australia. He has written some research and technical articles and project proposals; some of them were funded by different external aided agencies.
He has provided technical input to the publications of State Resource Centre for Adult Education (SRC) particularly for the development of booklets for nee-literates and primer for improving literacy in coastal fishing community. Presently, he is working in National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) on deputation as Associate Professor in the Centre for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation contributing to the preparation of development plans and evaluation of fisheries programmes sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and other agencies.

डी.एफ.आई.डी. द्वारा वित्तपोषित परियोजना के अंतर्गत, मरीन रिसोर्स असेसमेंट ग्रुप (एम.आर.ए.जी., ब्रिटेन) के साथ विभिन्न स्टॉक आकलन सॉफ्टवेयर साधनों के क्षमता निर्माण कार्यक्रमों के क्रियान्वयन में उनकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका थी।
भारत सरकार - यू.एन.डी.पी. समुद्री कच्छप संरक्षण परियोजना के अंतर्गत वे मलेशिया एवं ऑस्ट्रेलिया के दौरे पर गए थे। उन्होंने कुछ शोध एवं तकनीकी लेख तथा परियोजना प्रस्ताव लिखे हैं। इनमें से कुछ का निधीयन विभिन्न बाह्य सहायता प्राप्त एजेंसियों द्वारा किया गया था।
उन्होंने प्रौढ़ शिक्षा, राज्य संसाधन केंद्र (एस.आर.सी.) के प्रकाशनों में, विशेष रूप से नव-साक्षरों हेतु पुस्तिकाओं के तथा तटीय मछुआ समुदाय में साक्षरता को बेहतर बनाने के लिए प्रवेशिका के विकास में, तकनीकी सहयोग प्रदान किया है। वर्तमान में, वे राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण विकास संस्थान (एन.आई.आर.डी.) के आयोजना, अनुवीक्षण एवं मूल्यांकन केंद्र में सहायक प्राध्यापक के रूप में प्रतिनियुक्ति पर कार्यरत हैं और राष्ट्रीय मत्स्य उद्योग विकास बोर्ड (एन.एफ.डी.बी.) तथा अन्य एजेंसियों द्वारा प्रायोजित विकास योजनाओं को तैयार करने में एवं मत्स्य उद्योग कार्यक्रमों के मूल्यांकन में अपना योगदान दे रहे हैं।
