Description | The NGTV was set up under the name of Netherlands Society of Translators in 1956 as a professional organization for translators and interpreters. In January 2001 the name was changed to NGTV, the Netherlands Society of Interpreters and Translators (Nederlands Genootschap van Tolken en Vertalers).
The objective of the NGTV is: To promote the ethical and material interests of translators and interpreters in general, and of Dutch translators and interpreters and those established in the Netherlands in particular; to promote proper understanding of the role of translators and interpreters; to strengthen international contacts in the area of translating and interpreting. Currently the Society has over 1,600 members working in a total of some 70 languages, either as interpreters, translators or both. |

Has admission criteria.
The primary criterion is documentation to be provided by the candidate showing that he/she has earned by obtaining a degree in translation from an institute, college or university of higher education in the Netherlands. If a candidate has sufficient experience, publications, references and/or a diploma from a recognized, foreign school/program of translation, he/she might be accepted by the admissions committee. |
