Discussion

Dylan Edwards (asker) Jun 16, 2020:
I think I'm coming at all this from a different angle. (I'm no longer concerned with 'analytic' vs 'analytical').
To my English ears, 'conditional analysis approach' means an approach that uses conditional analysis - rightly or wrongly, this is what I take it to mean. Irina's answer shows a similar line of thinking.
Turdimurod Rakhmanov Jun 12, 2020:
условно-аналитический could also mean "partially or semi-analytic approach", I am more inclined to this variant.
Turdimurod Rakhmanov Jun 12, 2020:
I also think "analytic approach" is better than analytical approach even ıf they are almost the same. But I am not so sure about conditional or provisional (meaning in dictionary). Every time when I used dictionary it was wrong.
Dylan Edwards (asker) Jun 12, 2020:
That's to say, 'analytic approach' is proper medical language... but I might just use the noun form in the end.
Dylan Edwards (asker) Jun 12, 2020:
'Analytic' quite possible here too :)
Dylan Edwards (asker) Jun 12, 2020:
Thanks for giving me some choices! I'd say that 'provisional' and 'conditional' mean pretty much the same thing.
As for the use of 'analysis' or 'analytical', should we make a distinction? I would. To me, 'provisional analysis approach' means the approach of using a provisional analysis, and 'provisional analytical approach' means an analytical approach which is used provisionally.

neutral Boris Shapiro : How do you know this type of approach (however you translate it) is, indeed, the conventional one? A cardiologist would know; we don't.
