Gender sensitive statistics is being developed, but more needs to be done to get clear and correct picture of gender equality. Some of the statistical categories are not really relevant any more, while other categories are becoming relevant. Sex-disaggregated data is needed for local level, as well.

English term (edited):
gender-sensitive statistics
Selected
gender-oriented/respective statistics
or: gender-specific statistics
special/equal attention is given to, on one hand, how women see/experience the world and, on the other hand, how men do, or, statistics are collected that treat women's and men's issues from a female and a male perspective/point of view, accepting both genders/opinions as equally important.
sensitive here refers to the treatment of women and men on an equal footing, meaning not at all that there is the same treatment for women and men but that the same importance and gender-specific relevance must be given/applied to the issues and the different/gender-specific ways in which they affect women and men. So your comment of the awareness of the differences between women and men as "gender-sensitive" goes in the right direction but it's more than that it's the assurance that the treatment of women's and men's issues, problems, answers etc. is given equal importance.
I don't see a need to change gennder-sensitive to topical. But I agree with Gary's other textual improvements.

Topical Gender statistics are being compiled
Topical Gender statistics are being compiled, but more needs to be done to get a clear and correct picture of gender equality. Some of the statistical categories are not really relevant any more, while other categories are becoming relevant. Local level Sex-disaggregated data is also required.
Why I used "Topical" is because of the word "relevant" being in the text,
It is saying they are doing an up to date report, Topical, but even then some of these are not relevant.
I hope this helps.
