Also called "degree mill." An organization lacking recognition by legitimate accrediting agencies which "awards" academic degrees and diplomas for a flat fee, usually requiring little or no academic study.

ディプロマミル（英: diploma mill、証書工場の意）あるいはディグリーミル（英: degree mill、学位工場の意）とは、実際に就学せずとも金銭と引き換えに高等教育の「学位」を授与する（と称する）機関・組織・団体・非認定大学のことであり、その活動は学位商法とも呼ばれる。転じて、アメリカのスラングで、入学卒業が非常に容易な大学を皮肉をこめてこう呼ぶ。なお、このような転用がみられるのは、アメリカの大学では、入学は容易だが卒業認定は厳格なのが普通であるためである。<br />最近では社会問題になるほど認知され、これらの機関・組織・団体の社会的影響と大学のあり方が、教育学者や社会学者による研究テーマとなっている。
