Spanish term

trabajadores desplazados por sus empresas

Spanish to English Social Sciences Government / Politics
A text about labor migration:

Este convenio tiene en cuenta el fenómeno de las migraciones para evitar la desprotección de los trabajadores migrantes o de los trabajadores desplazados por sus empresas y garantizar las prestaciones de carácter contributivo de invalidez, vejez, supervivencia y accidentes de trabajo y enfermedad.

I'm not sure whether this is displaced workers or laid-off workers. The "por sus empresas" phrase is the source of my confusion. Thanks!

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): AllegroTrans

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

posted workers

I think that this is what the writer is referring to, but more context is required to be certain. See definition of posted worker at: http://ec.europa.eu/social/main.jsp?catId=471

laid off

the context is about workers either not having, or losing, various social benefits/protections
Peer comment(s):

disagree Phoenix III : The text clearly states migrant workers who are not entitled to employee benefits.

workers displaced by their companies

I would use the same terminology as I find it correct: Migrants who follow crops from town to town, for example and displaced workers, which is the end result... once the crop is over.

workers transferred by their companies

Otra opción. La he visto con frecuencia en este contexto durante años.
