Hallo!

Robert

Hi Robert,

You could have a look at these:

I understand that hourly fees differ a lot among German tax advisors - please inquire with any that meet your requirements and that you can get to for on-site appointments in connection with your tax returns (Driving to city limits located at the opposite end of the city of Berlin can mean 38 to 45 km of travel) including parking, unless you prefer public transport, with the coverage of which AFAIK there is never any problem in Berlin.

The quality of work could be defined as accuracy of figures and neat presentation plus currency of knowledge as German tax legislation is undergoing constant changes (so you might want to check out any info on CPD events attended on their website).

Claiming "English spoken" is not enough. Make sure their website is in near-flawless English.

Info on the ability to meet Germany's pretty tight filing deadlines (like May 31 of the year following the tax year that requires you to file your tax return, i.e. that is due) once you have handed in your receipts, possibly any supporting documents, any e-tax records from your home accounting software like WISO transmitted online and any figures might be hard to find online but going by referrals (that can provide that info for you), whether here in this thread, in any other online forum or via direct contact with clients of Berlin-based tax advisors, such as any found among the ProZ.com community, brings the major drawback that in a city that is now almost 42% the size of London or so no two colleagues will recommend the same tax advisor so that this system lacks verifiability of the recommendation. This can make a diff in terms of how they assess the quality of work and the currency of tax legislation expertise and thus how helpful/accurate the assessment is.

Best regards,

Sebastian Witte
