Bio

I have been translating in-house and as a freelancer since 2012 and have been a full member of the NZSTI since returning to New Zealand in 2017.

Despite having lived in multiple countries, I have decided to focus on these three language pairs for translation, as my grasp of these languages allows me to pick up cultural and linguistic nuances and bring these through in my translations.

I have worked to combine what I translate with what I like doing in my free time.  Making / repairing things and sport.  This allows me to have a deeper understanding of the materials, of how things work, and being able to tailor translations so that end users receive a document that reads just like they would it expect it to.

As a freelance translator, I have worked with agencies providing translations for large European engineering and manufacturing companies.  These have related to the manufacturing, maintenance and instruction manuals, contracts, marketing materials for new products.  As a sports translator, I have also worked with an Italian company to translate various scuba diving manuals, as well as having worked with sports clubs and national bodies to help organise international handball tournaments, including interpreting at the IHF Oceania Cup in 2014.

I like to spend my free time busy doing things, such as photography, camping, woodworking, wood turning, gardening and playing handball.
