In this report all acronyms are written in lower case, so I assumed this to be true for this evt term also. For example, the report says "paziente con bpco bronchiectasica" ... "fa parossistica" ... "terapia con betabloccante e asa" ... "eseguiva tc encefalo di controllo" and so on.

Thanks, I agree with all this, except that strokes or blockages are cited as a risk - hence the prophylactic heparin.

Ciao MR and thanks for offering your suggestion again. It seems to me that this EVT is some type of pharmacologic treatment or therapy (antalgic "EVT" in the 3rd instance) so I don't think that we can consider venous thromboembolism as a possibility here, or external ventricular drains. And as far as I know, endovascular treatment is for strokes or blocked vessels, and there's no mention of that in the patient's history.

EVT in EN stands for endovascular treatment and is used in response to blood clots, as is the heparin mentioned in your original (along with embolisms). However, I'm skeptical because EVT isn't Italian.

Further complicating matters and perhaps misdirecting them is that heparin may be used to prevent VTEs (EN, venous thromboembolism) and may be used in conjunction with an EVD (EN external ventricular drain). Could VTE or EVD become EVT in Italian?
